So here we are and its all over once again.

So what have I done?  spent some long hours in the van soundproofing and insulating it that’s what I have been doing amongst other things. I have done the Crafter the same as I have done my previous two T4’s.

First I use flashband, I bought 2 rolls of Evo Stik Roll Grey Flashband 300mm X 10m which cost £25.64.  I apply it with a little wallpaper roller to make sure it is securely attached to t
he body.  Then I apply a layer of foil bubble wrap and then I use 10mm PU foam carpet underlay and then finally I add another layer of foil bubble wrap which is sealed with silver insulation tape.  Other people will use loft insulation but as you saw in one of my previous blogs it seems to sweat and hold water so I don’t use it all my vans have been really warm so I don’t see any reason why this one won’t.

The previous owner had used celotex insulation board for the roof so I removed it all, applied a layer of flashband and then stuck the celotex insulation board back in and sealed it all with foil tape.

I also used this time to run all the electric cables around the van. I have hopefully run more than will be needed but you can never be sure.

My wife and I sat in the van and had a cup of coffee while we discussed where we thought various would be in the van and we also talked about what was possibly placed wrong in previous vans. Now
I must emphasise that we are building this van for us so other people may prefer different positioning.

All cables have been run through conduit where it is possible and all holes have been protected with grommets.  I have also made sure that I have labelled every cable so that it is easily identifiable later on.

I also decided to give the roof a clean as it was in a really very green as you can see in the photo.  I found it really hard to remove using soap and hot water so I thought I would try other products.

I found Demon wheel cleaner worked really well I sprayed it on left if for about 10 minutes and the dried on algae started to lift it wasn’t easy but it has worked as you can see in the photo.

The van is starting to progress now I have bought lots of bits that will be fitted over the coming weeks.  The next job is going to be the ply lining.
