Today I decided to carry on removing what was left, this was the shelf above the cab, rest of the wiring, the carpeting and have a look behind the panels and see what was done previously.
I started with the wiring and to be honest the the 240 hook up looked dangerous there were bits of wire joined to each other everywhere.  I makes me wonder what their home must be like.  Anyway that is all removed now as is all the 12v electrics, apart from the cable going back to the reversing camera.  There are a few joins in those wires too so I will redo the joins with solder and heat-shrink for my own peace of mind.  Everything I removed I have tidied up and I will try to reuse as much as possible.

I then removed all the carpet on the metalwork around the sliding door and the window behind the drivers seat this is because I want to change the colour of the carpeting to silver. It all came out fairly easily but there is a lot of glue residue that will need to be removed .
I then turned my attention to the shelf above the cab, and how I wish I hadn’t.  To attach the shelf at the back the previous owner has used No More Nails or something very similar and as you can see from the photos it has made quite a mess of the original covering.  I am going to have to experiment with different solutions to try and remove the sticky mess.

So now that I had to find out what to do with the glue I moved on to the panels and removed them.  Behind I found wool roof insulation and some metallic bubble wrap, but no sound proofing.. So I have ordered some soundproofing that comes on 5m x 1m rolls.  My plan is to removed the wool and the foil and install the soundproofing and then reinstall the foil and the wool and then add another layer of foil and seal it with silver tape.  Maybe overkill but this is how my last van was done and it was quiet and warm.
If you look at the picture below  you can see what was behind the panel when I removed it the first thing I was presented with was the plastic sheet I am not sure what this was for and I have never seen anything like it before.
