So last friday something happened that we have previously taken so much from granted….. Camping with a group of people.

We camped at Anchor Barrow in Perranporth, Cornwall, this site is great its not too far from the beach and the town centre. This site is reasonably priced and the facilities are great, good clean toilets and showers, there is a cart selling breakfast’s every morning and they cook pizza’s in the evening in a mobile pizza oven. There is a little bar a shop , laundry facilities. There is also an undercover space with table tennis tables benches and a TV for when Cornwall isn’t quite so glorious, what more could want!!

When we arrived, there was a thick mist and it really looked like it was going to be a poor weekend, but the beer flowed and a fire was lit we were happy. The next morning I woke early (as we are now sleeping in a Caddy and there is not that much room ) and the mist was still there but by 7:30 the sky cleared and we knew it was going to be a hot day. This was the weekend of G7 and it was relatively quiet on the beach and in the town which is always nice. As is the normal we made our way to the The Watering Hole and had a few drinks and some food.

Moving on to my thoughts on the Caddy.

Obviously it is a micro camper and there is no way you can camp for a few days in it without an awning as there is just nowhere to put things while you us e the van to sleep in, well at least for two people for one person I think it would be idea. The first disaster of the weekend started as soon as we started to put up the awning. The awning rail pulled from the van, lesson learnt here I used Screwfix’s version of Sikaflex and it isn’t great so I have now ordered the real SikaFlex https://amzn.to/35CPd6Y and I will be doing that this weekend. So we ended up having the awning setup up next to the van which was ok but not perfect.

We had planned to have a lightweight mattress and pillows, but in all honesty this was a mistake, the pillows which were blow up we just chased around the van all night and the mattress was just too thin to be comfortable. However the unit that I have bought from Van furniture are great and I would really recommend them.

As the evening drew on we wandered over to the cliffs to watch the sunset, which is always my favourite this to do. There is nothing better to do in my opinion I just love watching the sun set and the sun rise although I do struggle to get up sometimes. We then wandered back and sat around the fire told stories drank some more and had a great time.

It is only now I realise just how much we have lost on the last 18 months, so if you are reading this get out and do something that you enjoy and most of live your life you only get one!! I am in the process of making a video of the weekend and I will probably make a video of me fitting the awning rail so keep watching my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/justaddnasi
