Well this event has been very wet the last couple of years and it really wasn’t looking that good when we woke up this morning.
We were due to meet the BeDub group to cruise up to Paignton Green for the show. We woke up late so it was literally a splash in the bathroom and hit the road. We got to the meeting point just before everyone was about to leave.
As we started heavy mist rolled in and we thought here we go again another wet Dubs at the Beach. Not to be deterred I started hanging out of Vee’s Beetle to get some rolling shots of the van and cars cruising up.
I think you will agree looking at the screen grabs from the video they look awesome.
I really enjoy doing this though so for me it was great just to have some really nice dubs to video on the move.
As we got nearer to the event the weather started to break and the sun was trying to make an appearance.
By the time we got there it was drying up and we thought this could be a good day after all. Then you start to wonder how well it would be supported because a lot of people who own classic cars and vans don’t like driving them in the rain and on muddy roads.
Well we arrived about 9-30 am and I couldn’t believe how many people were already there. I was told that there were 350 tickets available to park on the green and they were all sold.
Well the sun did come out and I got burnt I didn’t bring my shades or a hat that’s how miserable it was when we left. Anyhow lots of people we know turned up and it was a great day just chilling and catching up with people oh and of course looking at some amazing cars and vans.
I have wondered if this event would be better if it had camping too but then I look around and it’s obvious that many people who are showing cars wouldn’t camp anyhow so being a day event attracts different people to the show.
We sat around a just talked rubbish for a few hours but we were happy and I think that is all we really need …..friends.
